Specialist Teaching With a Personal Understanding
The Learning Difference grew from a passion for supporting children and young people who learn differently and may not always receive the specialist support they need to thrive.
My own journey began when my son was diagnosed with dysgraphia. Supporting him helped me understand just how important the right teaching approach can be and inspired me to develop my own specialist knowledge and dedicate my work to helping other unique learners succeed.

Meet Mim
My passion for supporting learners with specific learning differences began through my own experience as a parent. When my son was struggling at school and was diagnosed with dysgraphia, I wanted to better understand how to support learners whose brains work differently and what approaches could make a meaningful difference.
As a qualified primary teacher with 16 years’ experience across the UK and New Zealand, I have built specialist knowledge through an NZQA Level 5 Certificate in Teaching Individuals with Specific Learning Difficulties (SPELD NZ) and completed a Certificate in Comprehensive Structured Literacy with Freedom Literacy.
My experience spans classroom teaching, literacy leadership and specialised intervention. Since 2024 I have provided personalised, evidence-informed support using structured literacy and targeted intervention to help learners build skills, confidence and strong foundations for learning.
Not Just Tutoring-Specialist Teaching
My specialist evidence-based 1:1 sessions target the underlying skills that can make reading, spelling, writing and maths challenging.
With targeted teaching, individualised programmes and a pace that suits each learner, I can build skills, confidence and independence—helping students become more successful and confident learners.
